How To Help

Problem:

Youth residing in the San Marcos and Hays County communities face obstacles created by a lack of material resources, a safe environment to develop positive socialization skills, lack of role models, low expectations or stigmas by community, and negative peer pressure.

Target Group:

Youth residing in San Marcos and Hays County communities between the ages of 11-17.

Need:

Volunteers who are active, creative, and interested in creating positive influences

for our San Marcos youth.

Volunteers Needed at YSB

Location: 2004-B Medical Parkway Ste. 105, San Marcos, TX 78666

Times: Our After School Program runs every Monday-Thursday from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. However, volunteers can help out any time of the day depending on their schedules.

 

Expectation for Volunteers

We need people to support our youth by encouraging each child’s individual qualities and personal strengths. We expect our volunteers to set good examples for our youth. Any vulgar behavior or language will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave. This is your opportunity to make a positive difference in our youth members lives. 

How to Become a Volunteer

  • We accept applications at the beginning of each Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. 

  • You may call with questions or download an application. 

  • Call to schedule times to tour our facility and to turn in applications.

  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check.

  • Must attend a Volunteer Training Session.

  • We ask that each student try to attend our program at least once a week.

  • Those who want to help with special functions only must still fill out an application.

Internship Needed 

  • We accept applications for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. 

  • You may call with questions or download an application. 

  • Call to schedule times to tour our facility and to turn in applications.

  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check.

  • We require for each student to complete at least 120 hours with our program.

  • We expect complete dedication to our youth, purpose and goals.
